Manifesto of the Roscoe Village Draught Beer Preservation Society

In this the year that we celebrate what would have been Benjamin Franklin's
300th birthday, it is imperative that we spread his good message:

"Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy."

It is in the spirit of America's long and rich history of brewers that we
implore Mayor Daley to stop his administration's policy of closing down many
of our long-standing taverns that ring with echoes of our father's and
grandfather's jokes and tears.

With a frosty mug, the Society toasts first to the health and happiness of
the homebrewer. It is with his tastes in mind that craftsman such as Ken
Grossman (Sierra Nevada), Jeff Lebesch (New Belgium) and Larry Bell (Bell's)
have catered their product to provide the robust flavor we demand and only a
draught beer can truly provide.

With that same mug we toast to the healthy debate that has originated within
the pub, providing a perfectly matched backdrop.

We also hoist our pints to our brothers and sisters in Logan Square,
Andersonville and Ukrainian Village who have gone before us in the Draught
Beer Preservation movement.

Looking toward their Manifestos, we too hope for a Roscoe Village that
adopts the Imperial Pint as the standard serving container for all local
draught ale and lager service.

We also recognize that many of America's founding fathers were homebrewers,
and therefore our Society shall facilitate networking among local brewers to
build community leadership.

We also recognize that not all beers are created equal. We hope through our
patronage and feedback that the bars and taverns of Roscoe Village will
provide clean lines and taps, fresh beer and a robust selection of craft
beers.

Finally we see our Society as a fluid organization. In that spirit we invite
you to join us and provide us with pointers and feedback so that our Society
and our Manifesto might fully reflect the needs of the Roscoe Village
Draught Beer Preservation Society.
